Browser detection in Javascript
I have a need for a good, but not precise, browser sniffing script for purposes of web visitor logging. I have hacked together such a script. I would be very grateful if my visitors would tell me if the blue box is telling them the truth (javascript needed):
It's been confirmed to work on:
- Mac : Safari 2.0.4 (419.3)
- Mac : Firefox 1.5
- Mac : Opera 9.02
- Mac : MSIE 5
- Windows : MSIE 7 rc1
- Windows : MSIE 6
- Windows : MSIE 5.01
- Windows : Firefox 1.5
- Windows : Firefox 2.0 rc3

Well... Running SLED 10 with Firefox 1.5.0.7 and I get 1050x1680x24bit instead of what I think should be 1680x1050x24bit. Everything else seems fine.

It looks plausible, but I'm blissfully ignorant and don't actually know that much about my machine. I'm just a mac user, what do you expect? ;-)

It works on Internet Explorer 5 on a Mac, too. Which will be useful.

The box doth indeed speak only truth on kubuntu 6.10, KDE 3.51, konqueror.
I particularly liked how moving it from the laptop screen to the larger external monitor and reloading changed the reported screen resolution.
