The Dog
Taavi is my neighbor and friend Adda's dog. I help her out occasionally and take the furry-tornado-of-excitement out for romantic walks while her apartment is full of real-estate spotters.
I've always had cats and never been much for dogs, seeing them as too dependant creatures for my life. I'm surprised how quickly the dog grew on me. Admittedly, his enthusiastic jumps and general puppyness can get tiresome at times. This never happens when we're out and he will of course grow out of it.
When we are out I'm very strict with him, and apparently he absolutely loves it. So much, in fact, that he has decided that I am his new best friend and alpha male role model (pink is the new black). So now he'll whine and howl from separation anxiety when I leave.
There is nothing quite as pure and beautiful as the absolute and unconditional love of animals. They don't care what you look like, how you behave towards others, how much money you've got, or what your political opinions are. They just want to enjoy your company.
I'm convinced this will lead to me eventually getting a dog.

There are, of course, a few things of his I could happily do without like the "saliva on your clothes in 2.6 seconds" feature. In general his antics are lovable as most of them are a display of love/fondness. He'll calm down with age... hopefully...
How's the New York treating you? Is it better than the old York? How so? 3 pages by Friday. ;-D

I am convinced that he will be totally different and hate all of us losers after his 3 weeks in Garðabær... he is getting so much exercise and fresh air and kid-play, chasing the tail and drooling will be "so so 3 weeks ago" for him.. "Dahling, I simply MUST have 2 hours of running in a field a day! And this leash! My chain is far longer and shinier..."

"... and he will of course grow out of it." Ehemm...they don't. Never known one who really did, even if it dampened a little ;) But I love both cats and dogs - cats for their independence and dogs for their loveble social nature.

I have had several dogs who started off "vivacious" and ended up being quite calm and sedate, but you have to rule with an iron fist. Which Borgar does, and Taavi loves.
